The initial outreach phase of the bridge replacement design included a Mayoral Advisory Task Force and public meetings, which began in 2018. The Task Force members were public officials and representatives of neighborhood organizations; tourism, travel and corporate groups; the Federal Court; historic preservation groups; and Boston Harbor Now and Fort Point Channel area neighborhood associations.
The Boston Public Works Department (PWD) met with the Task Force at the end of 2024 to provide an update on the bridge assessment and its conditions. The PWD stressed the need to take action to address potential risks to public safety.
