• US Army Corp of Engineers Public Notice

  • The Boston Public Works Department (PWD) filed an application with the Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) regarding alteration of the Northern Avenue Bridge. The agency posted a notice for public comment on the bridge removal on 8/21/2025.

  • USACE made the preliminary determination that the removal of the Northern Avenue Bridge portions over the Fort Point Channel will not have a negative impact on public interest, use, or its ability to maintain the Boston Harbor Federal Navigation Project (FNP) for Fort Point Channel. Given the historic status of the bridge on the National Register of Historic Places USACE will coordinate review with the State Historic Preservation Officer and other interested parties and execute a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to resolve the adverse effects.
